Abstract.
Within the framework of the project “Preservation and Transformation of the Folklore and Ethnocultural Traditions of the Buryats of Russia, Mongolia and China” under the grant from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science (Mongolia), the authors have carried out the field research in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China to study the Buryat folklore, myth, language, spiritual and material culture in the other ethnic environment. The collected folklore and ethnographic materials prove a consistent trend in the careful preservation and popularization of the rich heritage of oral creativity by the Buryats of China. In the article, the semantic-functional description of verbal texts is given and attempts to ascertain the most stable components of the folklore tradition in different social conditions are made. Ethnographic and folklore data, complementing each other and revealing the modern Buryat spiritual and cultural situation in the region under consideration, are systematized for the comparative analysis.
