Political Paradoxes of November Revolution and Counter-Revolution in Germany

Abstract.
The article identifies distorted and politicized interpretations of November Revolution in Germany, from recognition of full dependence of the new authorities on the armed forces and monopoly capital to interpreting the revolution as a chain of mistakes and betrayals of democracy on the part of left-wing parties. The authors consider development of the revolutionary movement of 1918 in Bavaria against the background of the First World War. The paper emphasizes that the described events were spontaneous mobilization of right-wing forces rather than a social revolution.
