Abstract.
The study aims to determine reasons for emergence of the concept of post-truth in the modern discourse pertaining to the humanities in the context of the future image. The authors focus on the internal factors that contributed to its emergence and rooting within the Russian scientific community and also highlight the reasons that contributed to its popularisation. Scientific novelty of the article lies in interdisciplinary consideration of the issue with involvement of works written by the modern Russian and western experts; moreover, it is the first time that an attempt is made to link the future image with problems of post-truth and cultural ideals. Special attention is paid to peculiarities of using the concept of post-truth in Russia.
