Journalists’ Professional Ethics in the Context of Conflict-of-Interest Situation (on the Basis of the Russian and British Experience)

Abstract. The paper aims to reveal essence of journalistic ethics in a conflict-of-interest situation. Relying on domestic and foreign sources, the article analyses axiological and normative components of journalistic ethics, classifies conflict-of-interest situations associated with journalistic activity. Scientific originality of the study is conditioned by the fact that journalistic ethics is for the first time examined taking into account its axiological component. The following conclusions are justified: journalistic ethics is a system of axiological principles and normative rules; journalists’ professional ethics is determined by a conflict-of-interest situation associated with journalistic activity.
