Abstract. The reviewed publication is a comprehensive monograph about the life and work of the outstanding Soviet scientist-microbiologist Zinaida Vissarionovna Yermolyeva, prepared by A. V. Gorshenin (PhD in Historical Sciences) and unparalleled in Russian historical science. The author pays particular attention to previously unpublished archival materials reflecting the scientist’s contribution to the development of antibiotics, methods for diagnosing cholera, the use of lysozyme, and other antibacterial and antiviral agents.
