Abstract.
The article aims to characterize the formative conditions of pianist Mikhail Zaidentreger (1914-1994), one of the founders of professional musical performance and education in Bashkiria. Drawing on the musician’s memoirs (“Pages of My Creative Life”) and documentary materials (from the Ufa College of Arts and the National Archive of the Republic of Bashkortostan), M. A. Zaidentreger’s years of study at the Moscow Conservatory are outlined. The study examines the artistic and aesthetic principles of his mentor, the outstanding pianist Samuel Feinberg: the specifics of lessons in the specialized class, methods for developing students’ personal qualities, and the impact of his performance style. The article also addresses Zaidentreger’s mastery of the performing and pedagogical experience of leading specialists of the Moscow school. Furthermore, the article highlights events in Moscow’s musical life during the 1930s, including the emergence of the competition movement, concert practices, and touring activities. The scientific novelty lies in the systematization and interpretation of facts from Zaidentreger’s creative biography pertaining to the Moscow period and the exploration of the development of the musician’s high professional qualities. Studying this stage is essential for a deeper understanding of the pianist’s creative contribution to the development of the musical culture of Bashkiria. The study establishes that the foundation of Zaidentreger’s mastery was laid in Russia’s capital, where he assimilated the work style of the luminaries of domestic piano art and received a powerful charge of creative energy that sustained him for over half a century.
