Suggestion, counter-suggestion, and the algorithms of digital ideological domination

Abstract. The aim of this article is to provide a philosophical-anthropological grounding for the psychosocial mechanisms of digital ideological domination through a reconstruction of B. F. Porshnev’s conceptual framework. The article exposes the dialectic of suggestion, counter-suggestion, and counter-counter-suggestion as a philosophical-anthropological foundation for the theory of ideology; develops a historical typology of forms of ideological domination ranging from direct suggestion to algorithmic rationality; establishes the structural limit of digital suggestion through the concept of human excess; and introduces and conceptualizes pseudo-conviction as a specific form of digital ideology. The scientific novelty of this study is threefold. First, the concept of suggestion – counter-suggestion is systematically substantiated for the first time as a philosophical-anthropological foundation for the theory of ideology through a synthesis of the ideas of B. F. Porshnev, A. Gehlen, and M. Foucault. Second, a distinction is drawn between manipulation, classical ideology, and pseudo-conviction as three fundamentally distinct mechanisms of ideological influence, differentiated by their respective relationships to the subject’s capacity for reflection. Third, the structural incompleteness of the algorithmic parameterization of the subject under digital capitalism is rigorously demonstrated, shown to be a consequence of the ontological irreducibility of human experience to any aggregate of measurable behavioral data. The results demonstrate that algorithmic rationality neutralizes counter-suggestion from within, not by openly rejecting the procedure of belief verification, but by simulating it.
