Abstract.
The aim of the research is to reveal the social and cultural foundations of the metaphysics of morality, which defines the interrelationship between the inner and outer worlds of individuals and society. Morality, representing not only “prohibitions” but also imperatives for active life behavior, cannot exist in a devalued world. In the course of the research, an analysis of the cultural-historical fabric of morality, which needs to be graded, was conducted. The foundations of morality were examined not from the perspective of the old metaphysics, which was destroyed by I. Kant, but from the standpoint of the correlation between “positive” (existential) philosophy and “negative” (logical) philosophy. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the revelation of transcendental reflection as overcoming the ambivalent disagreement between the inner depth of a person and the Universe, which includes foresight of the consequences of undertaken actions, understanding of social foundations, and the causes of a moral way of life. As a result of the research, it was established that the end of logical or rational philosophy is the beginning of existential thinking about morality and ethics. Morality, examined from the perspective of metaphysics (the ultimate foundations of being and knowledge), forms a living socio-cultural fabric. The metaphysics of morality allows for overcoming the sharpness of the interaction between human self-consciousness and the Universe. This metaphysics, from the perspective of analyzing its social and cultural foundations, requires considering historical epochs not as immutable and identical, but as epochs that contain the heuristic potential of moral action. The metaphysics of morality is directed against mythological representations that are oppositional to social, intellectual reason.
