Modular design of the discipline “Foreign language in the professional sphere” for students majoring in Personnel Management

Abstract.
The aim of the study is to substantiate the necessity of constructing a course in professionally-oriented foreign language for students majoring in Personnel Management based on the principles of modular learning. To describe the specifics of modular teaching of professional foreign language at a university, the terms “modular learning” and “professionally-oriented foreign language” were clarified, the principles of organizing modular learning in a higher education institution were given, and methodologically important elements of the process of professional foreign language teaching were specified. To determine the structure and thematic content of the course, an analysis of curricula in the Personnel Management specialty in selected federal universities was carried out, which made it possible to identify key areas of knowledge for training. Based on the analysis, a course in professional foreign language consisting of 4 modules was developed, and methodological recommendations for organizing training and selecting teaching materials were compiled. The scientific novelty of the research lies in developing the content of a professional foreign language course that corresponds to the basic principles of constructing and organizing modular training for students majoring in Personnel Management. As a result of the study, the structure of a professional foreign language course was described, ensuring consistent mastery of theoretically and lexically complex material, which will contribute to the effective integration of theoretical and practical knowledge gained by students in the learning process, and corresponding to the basic principles of organizing modular learning.
