Abstract.
The research aims to provide a theoretical basis for the possibility of using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to teach listening for the main idea in 4th-grade English lessons. The article examines different types of listening, the stages of working with an audio text, and the corresponding speech exercises. AI technologies are selected for creating exercises at each stage of working with the audio text. The scientific novelty of the research lies in elaborating a methodology aimed at developing listening for the main idea among 4th graders during English lessons. The research found that audio texts developed with the help of the Qwen chatbot (based on prompts) and their subsequent narration using Text-to-Speech take into account the age characteristics of leaners, the necessary lexical and grammatical topics.
