Integration of the principles of bioethics and medical ethics into English language training for medical students: methodological aspect

Abstract.
The article examines the integration of bioethical and medical‑ethical principles into English‑language instruction for medical students. The aim of the study is to develop and methodically substantiate the advisability of a set of English‑language instructional tasks that incorporate ethical issues into the professional foreign‑language training of students in General Medicine, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Social Work. The paper outlines the content of the main principles of bioethics and medical ethics; justifies the need to integrate these principles into English instruction in a medical university with regard to each of the five specialties; and provides original examples of classroom tasks in English that have been piloted in practice and tailored to the professional specifics of each field. The scientific novelty of the work lies in developing a differentiated, specialty‑specific set of instructional tasks on bioethics and medical ethics in English. An anonymous survey of 112 first‑ and second‑year students of Yaroslavl State Medical University revealed a significant deficit in ethical knowledge alongside a strong demand for inclusion of ethical topics in the curriculum. The majority of respondents preferred interactive, practice‑oriented, problem‑situational teaching methods: role‑plays and professional simulations (71.4%), and analysis of clinical cases (68.8%).
