MODELLING OF REAL AND IMAGINED WORLD IN SHORT STORIES BY EDGAR POE AND HUGO VON HOFMANNSTHAL

Abstract. The narrative features of the short story Cavalry story by Hofmannsthal are investigated. It has the principles of the construction of real and fantastic world similar to the ones in short stories by Edgar Poe: points of view change, personage perception of events, leitmotif development of death theme, reality and subconscious apparitions as the equivalent elements of composition.
