Abstract.
The author considers the historical interpretation of plot by the material of V. F. Odoevskii's narrative Salamander, reveals similar and different elements of two works: Salamander and The Blackamoor of Peter the Great by A. S. Pushkin, comes to the conclusion about Peter's reforms influence on the characters' personality formation, and determines the continuity of Pushkin's traditions and Odoevskii's innovation in the estimation of Peter's era and its consequences.
