Abstract.
The author considers the English play of the Age of Enlightenment Fatal Curiosity by George Lillo. It was possible to create a distinctive, original work due to the new approach to figurative dramatic material. Moralizing motives sounding in it attracted the attention of well-known playwrights, critics and writers in Europe and were further reflected in their writings.
