Abstract.
The author considers the correlation between real and fantastic in the poly-genre “unpopular” work of Ch. Dickens and W. Collins, and pays particular attention to the representation of man and society in the artistic space of the work that combines the givens of a detective story, travel notes (close to the genre of sketches cycle) and melodrama.
