Abstract.
The author considers the principles of herbaceous and berry flora nomination in the Mari language, pays special attention to the essence of the process of phytonyms nomination and its features by the example of plants names in the Mari language, and presents the classification of phytonyms, which basis is the division on the semantic models underlying the basis of plants designation by Mari people.
