Abstract.
The author describes the semantics of characterized speech verbs in the comparative aspect of the Russian and English languages. Characterized speech verbs describe both speaking and vocalization at once. Though the English and Russian languages belong to the same type of languages that can have one-word description for the action and the mode of action, in the description of speech, and especially speech, which is characterized by emotions, the Russian language is distinguished by the use of such interesting group of verbs as reflexive verbs.
