IDEOLOGICAL-MORAL TRADITIONS OF CH. DICKENS’S CHRISTMAS TALE IN N. S. LESKOV’S CHRISTMAS STORY

Abstract.
The author analyzes the genesis of N. S. Leskov’s Christmas prose, reveals the dominant features of this genre, conducts the complex comparison with the genre of Ch. Dickens’s Christmas tale at the level of chronotope construction, key images, symbols and motives, and comes to the conclusion that Christmas prose appears in N. S. Leskov’s creative works as the precedent text at the ideological level, combining both genres of common Christian-moral and ethical orientation.
