ON ONE OF POLYSEMY MECHANISMS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of interrelation between the statement frame structure and root word polysemy in the verbal group. The author describes the development of polysemy as a result of cognitive-semantic slots parameters violation within the limits of prototypical meaning sphere. Going beyond the limits of described parameters converts the word with the new meaning into another concept sphere, and contributes to the formation of homonymy.
