Abstract.
The article is dedicated to the investigation of the direct form of psychological representation in the story by Mari writer G. Alekseev “Orphaned Souls”. The paper for the first time identifies and describes the prevailing techniques of “direct psychologism”, their functions in the artistic text. The researcher defines the specifics of using the reported speech by the author, reveals its connection with the narrative perspective of the text, and analyzes the basic types of inner monologue.
