PARALINGUISTIC INDICATION OF SOCIAL STATUS (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE FRENCH FICTION)

Abstract. The article is devoted to identifying the role of paralinguistic means in the process of communication. The author reveals the specifics of using such means in the situation of social and situational equality and inequality of communication partners. The paper investigates the semantic peculiarities of the descriptions of paralinguistic means in a literary text. The researcher concludes that paralinguistic means are more important indices of social status than the verbal means.
