Abstract.
The article reveals the specifics of communicative behaviour of an addressee as an object of provocative influence by the example of the texts of the German portrait interviews. The authors pay special attention to the conception of “verbal provocation” as a method for manipulating the interlocutor and consider the reactions of an addressee as a consequence of provocative behaviours of a journalist. The means of verbal response are identified taking into account the structural and semantic characteristics of the provocative questions as themselves, and also within the framework of the adopted communicative tactics: assistance, avoidance, opposition.
