Abstract.
In the article the main ways of toponyms formation of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China are considered. The revealed by the author schemes of geographical names formation indicate that they are widely used in the studied territory. All ways are considered in regard to the Mongolian, Turkic, Chinese languages.
