CONCEPTION OF TECHNICAL RASTER IN THE GERMAN RAILWAY SOCIOLECT

Abstract.
The article raises a problem on the inclusion of semiotic units equally with the lexical ones in the phenomenon of sociolect. A symbol is considered as a key conception within the framework of the sign units. As an example of professional symbols the author gives the so called technical rasters aimed to secure more efficient communication of railwaymen due to inability of lexical units to serve fully the professional activity of railwaymen. The paper provides examples, their analysis on the basis of which the author identifies specific features of technical rasters of the German railway sociolect.
