Abstract.
The article examines one of the most relevant and complicated concepts POWER in the Old Germanic society and culture, investigates the means for its representation in the Old English language on the basis of “Anglo-Saxon Chronicle”. Being the representation and creation of the Old Germanic culture, “Chronicle” is the rich narrative source not only from the culturological but also from the literary and linguistic viewpoints. Linguistic component of the research touches on the extra-linguistic aspects.
