Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the national-specific metaphorical model of the conceptual sphere “woman” in the American slang. In modern society, metaphors are actively involved in the formation of the speaker’s personal picture of the world. The image of a woman in the American slang is considered on the basis of a variety of sources of metaphorical expansion. The emergence of new metaphorical models with pragmatic potential that include metaphors with implicit assessment and emotive bright colouration is aimed at strengthening the image of a woman in the consciousness of members of the American picture of the world.
