THE ITALIAN RENAISSANCE OF N. V. GOGOL

Abstract.
The article examines the issue of the Italian period of the life of N. V. Gogol. In this connection the author substantiates the statement that Italy became a new incentive not only for the rethinking of the writer’s life, his world-view and world outlook (including religious one), but also for the appearance of a special mission of Gogol transforming the western renaissance idea of harmonious person in his creative work.
