THE POETIC PICTURE OF THE WORLD IN THE EARLY POETRY OF W. WORDSWORTH: THE VOCABULARY METHOD OF RESEARCH

Abstract.
The article examines the vocabulary method of researching the poetic picture of the world of William Wordsworth. The method by L. M. Gasparov has been taken for a basis; description methodology of the picture of the world is built on the comparison of “formal” and “functional” thesauruses, revealing “the picture of non-standard semantic relations, inherent not to the language in general, but only to this author”. The comparison of two thesauruses has shown that the functional thesaurus is broader than the formal one, because it considers the figurativeness and the synonyms of the poet, which in its turn reflects the peculiarities of his artistic thinking and artistic vision of the reality.
