Abstract.
The article aims to study the realization of the semantics of precedence by means of dependent taxis by the material of the modern English language. The authors introduce the definition of dependent taxis and identify its central and peripheral components. The importance of the paper involves the fact that relying on the conducted research the authors developed the cognitive and functional models of dependent taxis and analyzed the functioning of their relevant components in the process of realization of the semantics of precedence.
