GREY COLOUR CONCEPT IN THE ENGLISH SLANG

Abstract.
The article aims to reconstruct the concept grey (concept GREY/GRAY) in the English slang. The research findings can be of use to reconstruct the fragment of the linguistic picture of the world by the material of slang. The paper analyzes semantic, word-formative and phrase-formative derivation with the units grey/gray. The examples are classified into the groups of units with the common cognitemes which allows describing the structure of a concept. The author touches on the peculiarities of perceiving grey colour in the substandard vocabulary.
