Abstract.
The article aims to analyze the role of proper names in a literary work. The paper reveals the specific features of proper names, provides their classification. The author focuses on using the Russian proper names in the creative work of the British novelist Iris Murdoch, classifying them into anthroponyms, toponyms, fictonyms. Russian proper names promote the creation of the artistic images in Murdoch’s novels, represent their historical epoch.
