USING INTERPRETING STRATEGIES AT THE INITIAL STAGE OF THE FORMATION OF THE SKILL OF A SIMULTANEOUS TRANSLATION

Abstract.
This paper is devoted to revealing the characteristics of interpreting strategies, which the learners of a simultaneous translation in the pair of languages English-Russian use. The interpreting strategies serve to solve translation tasks and involve methods, techniques and means, used by a simultaneous interpreter. The initial stage of formation of skills of a simultaneous translation and eight strategies have been analyzed: the strategy of trial and error, expectation, stalling, linearity, probability prediction, sign translation, compression and decompression.
