Abstract.
The article is devoted to the issue of the formation of new methods in the Chuvash study of literature and criticism in the crucial years of the perestroika of the 1980s. The purpose of the authors is to show the dynamics of the development of new theoretical and literary-critical thought in the conditions of the fierce resistance of the sociologists of the 1930s. On the basis of the study of the innovative works of Chuvash literary critics the authors come to the conclusion that in the 1980s a new literary-aesthetic school was formed, which relied on such categories and concepts as beautiful, artistic merit, pithiness of form, historical poetics and so on. The novelty of this article lies therein.
