Abstract. In the article the new artistic vision of time in the landscapes of Mary Montagu’s “Travel letters” is revealed. In them the category of time is connected with all the represented objects including the ruins. Gothic art stopped being evaluated by the yardstick of Greek art, when the advantages and values of the first one were discovered. The time movement in urban landscapes where Montagu found the visible movement of historical time, inseparable from the nature and objects created by a human, is the most obvious.
