ON THE DOUBLE NEGATION IN THE ENGLISH AND CHUVASH LANGUAGES

Abstract.
The article is devoted to the comparative-typological study of the double negation functioning in the English and Chuvash languages. Relying on the analysis of the double negation structures in the authentic English text and its Chuvash translation the author identifies the specifics of using the verbal means of the compared languages to express the meaning of double negation. The analysis of the linguistic material with negative constructions justifies the existence of the actualized “multiple negation” phenomenon in the Chuvash language.
