CONNOTATION OF THE PRECEDENT NAMES “EMINEM” AND “TIMOTHY” IN THE AMERICAN AND RUSSIAN LINGUOCULTURES

Abstract.
The article advances a hypothesis that acquiring positive/negative connotational colouring by a precedent name can be associated with the evaluation of a specific referent. The research focuses on the precedent names of the American English and Russian languages referring to the famous modern musical performers. Relying on the comparative analysis the author tries to identify the connotational meanings of the precedent names under study.
