THE SPECIFICITY OF THE NOMINATION “I AM” IN THE GOSPEL OF JOHN

Abstract.
In this article on the basis of the analysis of the biblical literature the functioning in the text of the Gospel According to John of the specific formula of the Christ’s nomination introduced by the phrase “I am” is considered. Having analyzed the use of this form in various books of the Bible, the author concludes that for the Evangelist John its connection with the theophany was evident. At the same time he uses this formula to create a network of images, which reflect the most important conceptual metaphors.
