Abstract.
The article discovers the role of phraseological units in creating the image of a main character of a literary work by the modern English writer Nick Hornby “About a Boy”. Phraseological units, holding a special place in the language system, are the essential means to implement the true conception of a literary genre author. Actualizing the usual and occasional meanings in the context, phraseological units allow understanding the depth and many-sidedness of the artistic images created by the writers.
