Abstract.
The myth about a great sinner is one the most important archaic and mythological plot schemes for Russian literature. The idea of moral revival of a fallen person makes its semantic core. In the poem by M. I. Tsvetaeva “The Magician” there are characters, who can be safely called “the greatest sinners” - these are personalities of a wide spiritual range, who traverse a path from a sin to penance, but the innovation of Tsvetaeva’s heritage is in the absence of one of the parts of the theological triad - “salvation”.
