Abstract. The research of the use of discursive markers in students’ spoken and written language is of great practical importance, since discursive markers are responsible for the coherence and logical structure of the text. The article deals with the specificity of using the discursive marker I think by the Russian students in comparison with the analogous indicators for the native English speakers. The paper identifies the main problems in the use of the discursive marker I think , suggests the ways to overcome them.
