Abstract. The article presents a comparative-typological study of the most productive-affixal way of verbs formation in the languages of different structure, Russian and Buryat. The analysis revealed the typical word-formation processes occurring during the formation of verbs that can be interpreted with the help of the general language phenomena. Specific features are explained through the belonging of the compared languages to two different typological groups: the Russian language is inflected, prefixal-suffixal, and the Buryat language is agglutinative, suffixal.
