Abstract.
The article aims to reveal and analyze individual-authorial peculiarities of religious vocabulary usage by I. S. Shmelyov in his work “Pilgrimage”. The cases of using the lexemes: saint, sainthood, the Lord, God, sin, sinner, - revealed while addressing the work under examination, are considered. The meanings of the lexemes “saint, sainthood, the Lord, God, sin, sinner” are given both as fixed in explanatory dictionaries and as peculiar to I. S. Shmelyov’s worldview. Differences between these phenomena are revealed.
