M. HANSEN’S NOVEL “SAGA OF HILDA” IN THE CONTEXT OF ROMANTICISM TRADITIONS IN THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract. The article analyzes the novel by the Norwegian writer M. Hansen "Saga of Hilda". The paper reveals the significance of this work for the development of fiction in Norway in the XIX century and states that in "Saga of Hilda" the writer lays the foundation of the Norwegian historical novel, a tradition of which would later be followed and developed in the historical literary works by Sigrid Undset.
