THE GENDER ASPECTS OF A NARRATOR’S LANGUAGE PERSONALITY (BY THE MATERIAL OF CONTEMPORARY BRITISH LITERARY WORKS)

Abstract.
The article deals with the analysis of gender characteristics of a narrator’s language personality. The attempt is made to reveal the peculiarities of the narrator’s written speech while rendering it by an author of the opposite sex. It is found out that a female narrative, created by a man-writer, on the set of signs (in particular in the aspects of rationality and certainty), tends to the male type of speech; significant similarity of the male, female and childish narratives of the same author in the choice of lexical and syntactic means is revealed, that allows drawing a conclusion about the idiostyle.
