Abstract.
The article analyses one of the most topical problems of contemporary Ossetian literature criticism - examination of genre peculiarities in stories by Seka Gadiev at one of the most important stages of Ossetian literature formation at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century. The purpose of the study is the writer’s role in the development of the conception of national character in forming Ossetian literature and, of course, in the origination and progress of the story genre in it. The theoretical and practical significance of the article is evident: the results of the research will contribute to further studying the problems of the genre peculiarity of the Ossetian story at the beginning of the XX century and can be used in university and school practice.
