Abstract.
The article gives an example of a contrastive analysis of phraseological units with the initial religious cultural code in German and Russian phraseology. The key components of phraseological units with religious code of culture are subjected to a contrastive analysis for the first time. The cultural code (the code of culture) in the language is understood as a key to the national-cultural specificity of phraseology, as a secondary sign system, with the help of which it is possible to reveal a mythological, symbolic meaning of a phraseological unit.
