LINGUISTIC REPRESENTATION OF FATHER NIVEN’S IMAGE IN THE STORY BY R. BRADBURY “THE MESSIAH” AND ITS RUSSIAN TRANSLATIONS (COMMUNICATIVE AND PRAGMATIC ASPECT)

Abstract.
The article analyzes communicative and pragmatic content of Father Niven’s image in the story by R. Bradbury “The Messiah” and its interpretation in the Russian translations by O. Akimova and R. Rybkin by the example of the lexical means representing the behaviour and emotional state. The authors identify the changes of emotiveness and expressiveness level in the translated texts and conclude on the frequent use of stylistically marked vocabulary in the translated text and on the correlation between the translators’ intentions and gender characteristic of their personalities.
