Abstract.
The article focuses on components of Russia’s and Germany’s images: geographical, domestic-cultural and political/patriotic, each of which acquires its manifestation in memoirs by E. E. Dwinger, a prisoner of the First World War. As a result, the positive and “light” image of Germany (image of life) and the “dark” image of Russia (image of death) are formed.
