Abstract.
The article is devoted to the evolution of testing in human history, perspectives and challenges of our time in this sphere. The author considers such tendencies as the differentiation of testing according to professional areas, the reduction of the watershed between training and testing, the use of new technologies, the emphasis on integrative test tasks.
