Abstract.
The article provides comparative analysis of the Russian and German media-linguists’ views on the headline problem, its typology and the functions it performs as a compositional and structural element of a newspaper article. The author aims to identify the basic types of headlines in the Russian and German press, to analyze the different views on the role and place of a headline in publicistics.
